The U.S. Geological Survey said a magnitude-4.2 earthquake struck Western Washington early morning, and residents in the Puget Sound region reported feeling it as far away as Seattle.

Washington State Department of Transportation, along with the City of Seattle, have begun inspecting key structures to help ensure the safety of area bridges in and around King County.

After citizens across the region felt tremors shortly after 5:30am on October 16, 2016, several important structures were inspected. Residents felt shaking as far away as Snoqualmie and Fall City. No damage was reported to any of the structures. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes if possible until all inspections are completed.
