Magnitude A 4.1 magnitude earthquake strikes the Bay Area of California.

In the early hours of Thursday morning, a magnitude 4.1 earthquake shook California's Bay Area.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, there were no early reports of damage.

Around 5 a.m., the quake struck near Bay Point, roughly 30 miles (50 kilometers) east of San Francisco.

According to the US Geological Survey, the seismic activity occurred at a depth of around 11 miles (18 kilometers) (USGS). The Bay Area experienced light to moderate shaking.

Inspections for track damage were being carried out by Bay Area Rapid Transit, which oversees public transportation in the region, and travelers were cautioned of potential delays.
