The greatest earthquake in US history, with a magnitude of 9.2, struck Alaska on March 27, 1964. About 120 people were killed and countless others were injured when the earthquake unleashed a huge tsunami that caused extensive devastation. Additionally, the earthquake severely damaged homes and infrastructure, rendering thousands of people homeless. The tremor, which lasted 4.5 minutes, was the strongest earthquake ever recorded in the US. Additionally, it was the second-largest recorded earthquake.
